About

We are a group of Latinas with different narratives, backgrounds and experiences. We come from corporate leadership roles, serial entrepreneurs,  professional coaches, social workers, educators—each with unique strengths and experiences to create a platform in where marginalized voices are amplified and heard.

Johanna LoPorto, PhD
Founder/Executive Director

Bienvenidos! Welcome to Latina Voice! I am Johanna LoPorto, a proud Latina who believes in advancing Latinas and empowering them to believe in themselves and to pursue their dreams. As a first- generation Latina, only in my family to graduate from college, I went on to earn a PhD in Public Administration and Organizational Leadership  from Walden University and a Master's in Public Administration from Kaplan University. I also hold a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology and Latino Studies. I have over 20 years of experience in nonprofit organizational leadership and management, leadership development,  intellectual disabilities support services and workshop facilitation.

As a Latina, I still work to overcome many personal and professional obstacles, I have a deep understanding and empathy for the specific challenges that women of color face as they enter into different environments, such as in academia and in their professional careers. I am passionate about amplifying voices in identifying our converging identities that makes us who we are. I support women in learning how to be their "true, authentic self" by accepting who they are and where they come from. We delve in overcoming Impostor Syndrome, personal growth, developing culturally-based leadership skills in advancing careers and education. I leverage my intuition and experience to bring a high level of integrity, professionalism, and energy to empower all those I encounter.

As the Executive Director of Latina Voice, it is my mission to empower Latinas through their narratives, their own stories to help them get "comfortable with the uncomfortable, in being heard, acknowledged and understood to then work in changing those narratives.  We share stories of hardship but also on triumphs, affirming our resilience. Latinas are the fastest growing demographic and we are quickly gaining power and influence across all sectors. It's time to amplify all marginalized voices within a collective platform, and that is Latina Voice!
